Crazy or Not, I’m Re-Starting “Utah Tech Watch”
As I suggested yesterday on DavidPolitis.com, I’ve been playing around with the idea of resurrecting Utah Tech Watch on the ‘Net.
So . . . crazy or not, this will mark my first post on UtahTechWatch.com in nearly a year.
I’ve spent the last hour or so simply doing some housecleaning on the site, removing more than 1,100 spam posts, udating user, editor and contributor authorizations, and more.
I’m also going to have Kris Beldin from Politis Communications help me get this blog updated with the latest and greatest versions of WordPress and the associated plugins and add-ons. (He’s been managing all of the blogs in the Politis universe for the past year or so, so having him take over Utah Tech Watch in a similar role makes sense as well.) Heck, we might even spruce it up a bit too!
For the record, those individuals who have been previously approved as contributors and writers are welcome to contribute here once again. And if all goes according to plan, I expect we’ll have a raft of writers and contributors before the end of 2008.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet.
My intent is to set the bar fairly low for myself (at first), with the goal of adding a new entry once a week — kinda like my original, self-syndicated print/email Utah Tech Watch column from 1994 through 2004. These posts should primarily focus on commentary and observations on Utah’s technology community at large (all aspects, ranging from information technology to biotech and from the material sciences to life sciences), as well as the technology world at large.
Once I get back in the swing of such regular posting, I’ll look to beef up such coverage as I can, perhaps moving to multiple posts each week. If that works out, then who knows where this might go.
I also have other thoughts, aspirations and dreams for this little venture. But for now, let’s start with this one post and go forward from here. Thanks.
