LANDesk said today that it has signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ: AVCT) for $416 million.

Dolby Laboratories, Inc., (NYSE:DLB) says it will outfit 20 of Larry H. Miller’s MEGAPLEX Theatre screens with Dolby Digital Cinema. Ten of the Dolby Digital Cinema systems will be installed in MEGAPLEX’s new multiplex, the MEGAPLEX 20 in South Jordan, which will celebrate its grand opening on May 19, 2006.

Utah was competitively ranked among the states for its technology industry according to a national American Electronics Association (AeA) survey. According to the AeA, Utah ranked 12th nationally in electromedical equipment manufacturing employment, 13th in Internet services employment, and 17th in communications equipment manufacturing employment.

Of the $60 million raised this year by venture capitalists for investment in Utah technology companies, more than half of it has been used by three companies, SliceX, Linux Networx and Control 4, according to The MoneyTree Report released by PricewaterhouseCoopers. $15.8 million of this money went to Control 4 Corporation, the largest single beneficiary.
